LARAMIE, Wyo - After splitting their matches on the first day of competition at the UniWyo Wyoming Invite, the University of Central Arkansas volleyball opened day two with a three-set sweep of Murray State. The Sugar Bears (2-1) downed the Racers (0-3) 26-24, 25-23, 25-21.
Each set was close, with UCA hitting .202 for the match, compared to .126 for MSU. The Sugar Bears had a big advantage in kills, connecting on 45, while the Racers came up with 24. UCA also got a big lift in the serving game with 11aces.
Junior outside hitter Jessica Hays recorded her second double-double of the tournament with 15 kills and 10 digs. Junior libero Cristin Curl led all players with 12 digs. Senior right side Chloe Smith added 10 kills and freshman Karlie Giesler had eight kills and a .467 hitting percentage. Senior defensive specialist Chloe Evans came up with seven digs and had three aces. Freshman setter Marissa Collins assisted 38 kills and served three aces.
The Racers were led by Logan Su and Ashley Nenninger with five kills each. Kayleah Sauer had 11 digs and three aces.
The Sugar Bears will wrap up their trip to Wyoming with a 6 p.m. match against Southern Utah.
