CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas football staff has added five players to its roster in preparation for the opening of fall drills in early August.
The five newcomers are Eddie Camara, Parker Carpenter, T.J. Randall, Al Lasker and Jesse Grandy.
Camara is a redshirt freshman kicker who is transferring from the University of Arkansas. While at Cedar Hill (Texas) High School, Camara was the 14th-rated kicker in the nation by Rivals.com and rated 19th by Scout in 2010. He made 50 PATs and 15 field goals as a senior at Cedar Hill.
Grandy is a 5-foot-11, 167-pound junior receiver from Pine Bluff Dollarway who is transferring from Ole Miss. He lettered for two years with the Rebels as a return specialist and wide receiver. Grandy ranked third in the Southeastern Conference and 10th in the nation with a 14.7 punt return average as a sophomore. He also ranked eighth in the SEC in kickoff returns at 20.9 yards. Grandy was named the SEC Player of the Week once last season.
Lasker is a 6-3, 212-pound freshman receiver from Newman, Texas, who is transferring from Air Force. He caught 56 passes for 1,350 yards and 21 touchdowns as a high school senior. Lasker had 20 catches, eight touchdowns and 400 all-purpose yards for Air Force Prep last year.
Randall is a 6-4, 268-pound redshirt freshman defensive lineman from Lee’s Summit, Mo, who is transferring to UCA from Nebraska-Omaha after the school did away with its football program. Randall was a first-team All-State selection in high school who also lettered in wrestling. His high school footballl team won a state title during his sophomore year.
Carpenter is a 6-4, 250-pound freshman defensive lineman/deep snapper from Olive Branch, Miss. He was an All-State long snapper and All-Region defensive end at Olive Branch and was selected to the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame for Scholar-Athletes.
