CONWAY, Ark. _ University of Central Arkansas head football coach Clint Conque is part of an outstanding list of coaches and sports personalities who will speak at the Little Rock Touchdown Club during the 2011 season.
Conque will be the featured speaker on Monday, Oct. 31 at the luncheon at the Embassy Suites in west Little Rock. The organization will be hosting the weekly luncheon for the eighth consecutive year.
Conque, beginning his 12th season at UCA, is the winningest coach in UCA football history with an 80-47 record. He led the Bears to a 6-1 record and first-place finish in the Southland Conference in 2008, in just their second full season as a Division I program. The Bears are ranked in the top 25 in all the major FCS polls heading into the 2011 season.
Conque is joined on the list of speakers by Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino, Arkansas State coach Hugh Freeze, former Alabama and Texas A&M Coach Gene Stallings, former Florida State coach Bobby Bowden, former Michigan coach Lloyd Carr, former Auburn coach Pat Dye, former Tennessee and Pittsburgh coach Johnny Majors and former Arkansas State coach and current member of the Dallas Cowboys front office staff Larry Lacewell.
Also on this year’s agenda are former Kansas coach Mark Mangino, Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long, former Razorback players Tony Cherico and Barry Lunney Jr., Mark Schlabach of ESPN and former Razorbacks and brothers Jay and Chris Bequette.
“Now in its eighth year, the Little Rock Touchdown Club has set a high standard in trying to provide exciting and compelling speakers for hungry football fans on Monday at lunch,’ said David Bazzel, club president. “Thanks to our great sponsors and supportive membership, we’ve done it again this year and in even a bigger way. There is no question. This is the best Touchdown Club lineup in the history of the club.’
