BEARS IN NINTH PLACE AFTER DAY 1

 TUCSON, Ariz. _ The University of Central Arkansas men’s golf team sits in ninth place after the first two rounds of the Arizona Intercollegiate being played at Arizona National.

The Bears had rounds of 303-293 for a 596 total. Arizona leads the field at 554, followed by California (556), Pepperdine (572), New Mexico (574), Campbell (577), Santa Clara (589), Texas El Paso (590), UC Irvine (595), UCA (596), Utah (597), UC Riverside (604) and McNeese State (611).

Individually for the Bears, freshman Pep Angles is tied for 25th place with rounds of 74-73_147. Senior Antonio Costa is tied for 29th (77-71_148), while freshman David Morago is tied for 41st (75-75_150). Senior Josh Sims (80-74_154) and junior Austen Moix (77-77_154) are tied for 58th.

Pepperdine’s John MacArthur is the two-round leader at 68-66_134.

The final round will be played Tuesday.
