WOMEN'S SOCCER ANNOUNCES SIGNING CLASS OF FIVE

The Central Arkansas women’s soccer program has added five student-athletes for the 2012 season, signing four out of Texas and one from California. Included in the group are a forward, midfielder, defender, goalkeeper and one forward/defender.

WSOC signee

Marisela Chavez is a Forward from Mansfield, Texas. She has played club soccer with FC Dallas for the past 4 years which competes in the Lake Highlands DI league and on the clubs’ ECNL team. She will be graduating from Mansfield Summit High School in June. As a member of MSHS’s soccer team she has been named 2nd Team All District, Honorable Mention, Offensive MVP, All Region Team, and been the Team Captain for the 3 seasons. Her parents are Joe and Lisa Chavez and she has two sisters, Maura and Marissa. She plans to study Physical Therapy.

Kiely Dowling is a Midfielder from Denton, Texas. She plays club soccer with her Texas FC ’94 Blue team which competes in the Lake Highlands Girls Classic League. She will be graduating from Ryan High School in June where she was a four year starter for the varsity team and earned All-District Honorable Mention and All-District 1st Team honors and was voted Team Captain her Junior and Senior years. While at RHS her varsity team has gone 75-11-7, won 3 district championships, made it to the Regional semi-finals in 2009 and the State semi-finals in 2011.

Dominique O'Shea is a Defender from Arlington, Texas. She plays club soccer with Sting West which competes in the Lake Highlands Girls Classic League. She is in the top 10% of her high school class and is a member of the National Honors Society and Texas Association of Future Educators. She also participates in the Ready, Set, Teach Program. Meaghan and Shawn are her mother and father, and she has two younger sisters, Anaya and Adria, and a younger brother Daniel. She plans on majoring in Kinesiology at UCA.

Hayley Romero is a 5’7 Goalkeeper from Yorba Linda, Calif. She has played club soccer for the Irvine Strikers ECNL team for the past 6 years and been the team captain for the past 3 years. She will be graduating from Yorba Linda High School in June where she is on the Honor Roll and a member of the Mustangs soccer team. She is in the first graduating class from YLHS and the first female soccer player to commit to a D1 college in her school’s history. During the month of September she received the Student of the Month award. She also received Most Inspirational Sophomore her first year at YLHS. She received MVP on her Junior Varsity team at El Dorado High School as a freshman. In her spare time Hayley likes to hang out at the beach, skateboard, and go to the Colorado River. Her parents are Michelle and Anthony. She has two brothers, Dylan & Colin and one sister, Torey. She is interested in pursuing a career as a physical therapist.

Megan Thomas is a Forward/Defender from Arlington, Texas. She has been the team captain for the past three years for her club team, FC Dallas Red South, which competes in the Lake Highlands DI league. She has also played on the FC Dallas ECNL team the past two seasons. She will be graduating from James Martin High School in June. For JMHS she has been named All-District Honorable Mention as a Sophomore, 2nd team All-District and MVP Defender of the Year as a Junior, and has been named team captain as a Senior. Her parents are Susan and Jimmy Thomas, she has one brother Michael (19) who is currently enlisted in the Army. Megan intends to pursue a Nursing degree at UCA.
