THREE MORE BEARS EARN ALL-AMERICA HONORS

Wynrick Smothers, Corey Howard and Jesse Grandy earned All-America honors
CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears had three more football players named All-America this week in seniors Jesse Grandy and Corey Howard and junior Wynrick Smothers.

Grandy, from Pine Bluff, was named to the second team of Phil Steele’s 2012 FCS All-American team as a punt returner. Howard, an offensive lineman from Wichita Falls, Texas, was a third-team selection, while Smothers, a quarterback from Destrehan, La., was the fourth-team quarterback.

“I’m really proud of all these young men for making another All-America team,’ said UCA head coach Clint Conque. “They all had outstanding individual seasons this fall, which in turn, helped us to another outstanding year as a team.

“I’m especially happy to see Wynrick receive this national attention. This will definitely position him and put him in the running for the 2013 Walter Payton Award.’

Howard was the Southland Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year, while Smothers was the Offensive Player of the Year. Grandy was All-SLC first team at wide receiver, punt returner and kick returner.
