Conway, Ark. –
Central Arkansas head volleyball coach David McFatrich has announced the addition of two new players to his roster, as his Sugar Bears look to build upon a season that saw the team finish with a school-record 30 victories, capture its first Southland Conference Tournament Title, and make its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
"I'm very excited to announce two additions to our Sugar Bear Volleyball roster: Fulani Petties and Evie Grace Singleton," began McFatrich. "I'm looking forward to seeing both of them contribute on the court and to our team GPA in the classroom. In addition to their volleyball ability, both Fulani and Evie are fine young ladies that will represent the University of Central Arkansas very well."
Singleton, from Little Rock, Arkansas, is an outside hitter that was named to the Home School All-American team three times and was the MVP of the 2011 Home School National Championships. "I've been able to watch Evie firsthand from the age of 12, and it has been great seeing her progress," said McFatrich. "She will add depth and firepower to our outside hitter position and we expect her to compete for playing time immediately. I like her attitude as an attacker and from the service line."
Whitehouse, Texas native Petties was a member of the East Texas Super Team, MVP of her high school team, and an All-District team member. "Our most important need was at the middle blocker position and Fulani is a dynamic player that we expect to help fill that gap immediately," praised McFatrich. "She has a great on-court presence, both physically and personality-wise, and we expect her to quickly develop into a key player for our program."
The two newcomers take the place of graduated seniors Taylor Hammonds and Jessica Hays on a team that features more than its fair share of experience. The Sugar Bears return eight players that played in at least 85 sets last year for a team that went 15-3 in Southland Conference play.
