  NATCHITOCHES, La. _ The University of Central Arkansas men's cross country team finished fifth at Monday's Southland Conference Championship, while the UCA women were 11th overall.
   Led by senior Jonathan Burgess, the UCA men finished with 128 points in the 13-team field. Burgess, a senior from Queensland, Australia and Colby Community College, ran a 24:15.2 over the 8K course to earn All-SLC honors.
   Freshman Julien Jeandree was next in 24th place with a time of 25:06.1, followed by junior Josh Quiroga in 26th (25:08.9) and freshman Brant Cook in 35th (25:21.2). Senior Connor Ryan ran a personal best 25:34.5 to finish 40th in his final meet, followed by freshman Preston Borg in 46th (25:49.3) and freshman Alonzo Pollum in 51st (26:03.0).
   On the women's side, illness and injury took its toll on the UCA team, the 2013 SLC runnerup, as it had only had six runners in the field. Sophomore Brigette Caruthers of Branson, Mo., was the top finisher in 24th place with a time of 22:03.3 over the 6K course. Junior Sophie Clauss finished 62nd (23:59.9), while freshman Layne Sargeson was 65th (24:07.5).
   Senior Emily Carroll finished 75th (24:56.5), followed by freshman Madison Sellars in 81st (25:45.3) and freshman Helene Sensee in 87th (26:48.0).
