UCA TRACK COMPETES AT UALR, TENNESSEE

CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas men's and women's track teams competed at the University of Tennessee Relays and the UALR Invitational over the weekend.

    The UCA women recorded 19 Top 5 performances at UALR, while the men had 14 in the Top 5. 

    Sophomore Brigette Caruthers won the 5,000 meters in a time of 18:10.51. Sophomore Sara Calhoun was second in the pole vault (10-0), while Abby Eldringhoff was fourth (10-0). Senior Abbie Linna finished third in the 1,500 meters (5:02.25), with Caruthers in fifth (5:03.13). Molly Sampson (16.08) and Hadley Swanson (16:54) finished third-fourth in the 100 meter hurdles.

    E'Lexus Garvin was fifth in the 100 meters (12.28), while Helene Sensee was fifth in the 800 meters (2:26.11). Samantha Ellis finished third in the 400 meter hurdles (1:06.08), with Sampson fifth (1:07.44). UCA's 4x400 relay team was second (4:01.58). Kelsey Marvin finished third in the high jump (4-11) and Alex Dorch was fourth (17-8.25) and Tyaniah Cash (17-4.75) was fifth in the long jump.

    Shawanna Brockman finished fourth in the shot put (36-3.50) and third in the discus (119-2.25). Anna Kirk was second in the javelin (121-9.75) and Samantha Gibson was third (113-8.50).

    For the men, freshman Daniel Spickes won the pole vault (15-11.75) and took second in the long jump (23-2). Alex Miles was fourth in the long jump (21-8.75). Nicholas Holt was fourth in the 200 meters (21.93) and Daniel Lawson was third (49.20) and Jeremiah Watson fourth (49.37) in the 400 meters.

    Lukas Bartmann was fifth in the 800 meters (1:59.45). Andrew Simpson finished second in the 5,000 meters (16:04.19), followed by Jacob Sanders in third (16:04.82), Noah Freeman in fourth (16:26.93) and Alex Battaglia in fifth (17:11.16). UCA's 4x100 relay team finished fifth (42.81), whle the 4x400 team ran third (3:22.74).

    At Tennessee, Chance Tanner finished fourth in the 400 meters (47.29). Josh Quiroga was second in the 800 meters (1:51.17) and Preston Borg was sixth in the 10,000 meters (31:47.07).

    UCA hosts the UCA Open this Friday and Saturday at the Bill Stephens Track and Soccer Complex.
