UCA MEN SIXTH, WOMEN 12TH AT SLC OUTDOOR

    HAMMOND, La. _  The University of Central Arkansas men finished sixth at the 2015 Southland Conference Outdoor Championship on Sunday at Southeastern Louisiana, with the UCA women finishing 12th.

     UCA's men finished with 60 total points, just two points behind fifth-place Lamar, while the UCA women ended with 14 points.

    UCA senior Chance Tanner collected 20 of UCA's 60 points and took home one of UCA's two golds by winning the 400 meters in a time of 46.09, the second-best time in UCA history. He also finished fifth in the 200 meters in 21.30, tying for fifth-best in school history.

    Tanner teamed with Trevon Boyd, Kelton Ray and Jeremiah Watson to finish third in the 4x400 relay in a time of 3:09.36, the No. 2 time in school history.

    Freshman Daniel Spickes of Rogers won the pole vault and broke the school record with a vault of 16-9.25 feet. Spickes now holds both the indoor and outdoor school records at UCA.

    Sophomore James Lassiter of Philadelphia was fifth in the 100 meter hurdles in a time of 14.50 (fifth-best in school history). Junior Josh Quiroga finished seventh in the 800 meters in a time of 1:53.47. Senior Connor Ryan finished sixth in the 1,500 meters in 3:56.42. 

    In the 10,000 meters, senior Jonathan Burgess was seventh (31:54.13) and freshman Preston Borg was eighth (32:03.70). Freshman Eric Moore jumped 6-11.50 in the high jump and finished second on misses. Junior Anthony Farris-King finished seventh in the long jump (23-4.50) and Spickes was eighth (23-2.75). Farris-King was also fifth in the triple jump (48-4.50).

    Sophomore Grant Williams finished seventh in the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 9:29.06. UCA's 4x100 team of Ray, Lassiter, Nicholas Holt and Rashad Jones finished eighth (41.79).
 
    For the UCA women, sophomore Brigette Caruthers finished second in the 10,000 meters on Friday in a time of 37:28.28, the second-fastest time in school history. Freshman Molly Sampson set a school record in teh 400-meter hurdles (1:02.79) and finished seventh. 

    Sophomore Anna Kirk finished seventh in the javelin with a toss of 133-4.75, breaking her own school record. Sophomore Samantha Gibson finished eighth in the heptathlon with 4,411 points, including a fourth place in the 800 meters. 

    UCA's 4x400 relay team of Jean Black, Jasmine Richard, Samanta Ellis Ellis and Sampson finished seventh in 3:56.28.
