UCA CROSS COUNTRY COMPETES AT RHODES, TEXAS A&M



    CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas cross country program sent split squads for men and women to the Rhodes Invitational in Memphis and the Texas A&M Invitational in College Station, Texas, on Saturday.

    The UCA women finished 12th overall (of 22 teams) in Memphis and 14th (of 16) at Texas A&M. The UCA men were sixth (of 25) at Memphis and 11th (of 16) at A&M.

    At A&M, sophomore Julien Jeandree finished te 8K course in 60th place in a time of 25:04.9. Sophomore Preston Borg was 67th (25:11.3), while freshman Markus Schweikert finished 74th (25:16.2) and senior Josh Quiroga was 75th (25:16.4).

    At Rhodes, freshman Austin Salazar finished sixth overall in a time of 26:16.70. Junior Andrew Simpson was 24th (26:48.60) and sophomore Noah Freeman was 30th (27:01.70). Senior Jacob Sanders finished 49th (27:43.00), freshman Brock Collins was 58th (27:57.30) and freshman Woodrow Murray was 79th (28:39.40).

    For the women, junior Brigette Caruthers was 42nd over the 6K course in College Station in a time of 21:49.5. Sophomore Abigail Topham was 73rd (22:36.7), followed by freshman Taylor Dunn in 82nd (22:46.7), junior Hannah Holstein in 99th (23:15.4) and freshman Sara Shaw in 102nd (23:20.3).

    In Memphis, sophomore Layne Sargeson finished 32nd (24:03.76), senior Sophia Clauss was 70th (25:20.86), sophomore Madison Sellars was 79th (25:39.22), freshman Caroline Daniels was 96th (26:11.59) and senior Jordan James was 131st (27:53.50).
