Men's Cross Country

UCA MEN FINISH SIXTH AT SOUTHLAND CHAMPIONSHIP

    NACOGDOCHES, Texas _ The University of Central Arkansas men's cross country team finished sixth overall on Friday at the 2016 Southland Conference Cross Country Championships at Pecan Acres City Park.

    Freshman Bill Kemboi from Kenya was UCA's top finisher, placing 13th overall in a time of 24:56.7 over the 8K course. Sophomore Markus Schweikert from Spay, Germany, finished 22nd in a time of 25:07.6, followed by sophomore Brock Collins from Forney, Texas, in 30th (25:24.0). Senior Grant Williams from Hot Springs finished 41st (25:40.6) followed by junior Brant Cook from Grand Prairie, Texas, in 43rd (25:46.7), junior Preston Borg from Mississauga, Ontario in 47th (25:54.1), freshman Jaron Hamilton from Grand Prairie, Texas in 56th (26:17.1) and junior Alonzo Pollum of Keller, Texas in 63rd (26:38.0).

    Lamar won its fourth consecutive title with 43 points, followed by Stephen F. Austin (62), McNeese State (68), Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (125), Sam Houston State (131), UCA (149), Houston Baptist (154), Incarnate Word (194), Abilene Christian (243), Southeastern Louisiana (314), New Orleans (327), Northwestern State (341) and Nicholls State (428).

   The NCAA Regionals will be held Nov. 11 in Fayetteville, Ark.
