Conway – Fresh off of a Missouri Valley Conference Tournament appearance with an incredibly young group, the Central Arkansas men's soccer team welcomed six new players to its family on Wednesday, head coach Ross Duncan announced. The group, which features players from Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Illinois, Denmark, and Sweden, will provide the Bears with additional competition across the field, featuring one keeper, two midfielders, a defender/midfielder, and a midfielder/forward.
"With such a young group this past season and knowing that we are returning 21 players, it was really important to me that I brought in guys that could make us better," said Duncan. "Adding depth to a roster that is already deep doesn't make sense, so identifying players that could raise the level of the group as a whole was the priority.
"There's a great mix of backgrounds in the incoming group and I believe they will add talent, athleticism, and character to our returning team," Duncan continued. "We've got a lot of competition for spots in the spring season right now so I expect it to be a difficult group to break in to, but I know there are some pieces to the puzzle that the incoming guys can fill.
"I'm excited to get to work with each of these players but now that they're signed, my focus is back to the group who is here on campus, putting in the work. It will be up to the newcomers to match the effort that these guys are putting in so they don't come in unprepared."
