SCHWEIKERT MAKES IT TWO STRAIGHT INDIVIDUAL TITLES


    MEMPHIS _ The University of Central Arkansas men's cross country team, led by sophomore Markus Schweikert, finished second at the Rhodes College Invitational on Saturday at Shelby Farms.

    Schweikert won his second consecutive race, finishing the 8K course in a time of 25:19.43. Bill Kemboi was 12th (26:11.58), followed by Brock Collins in 14th (26:16.95) and Alonzo Pollum in 15th (26:18.86). Grant Williams finished finished 20th (26:28:63), while Jaron Hamilton was 28th (26:36.45). 

    Iian Tonemah finished 48th (27:28.99), Andrew Simpson was 56th (27:46.33), Ian Smith was 62nd (27:56.58) and Woodrow Murray was 72nd (28:18.14). 

    Memphis won the 17-team men's division with 43 points to UCA's 58.

    UCA's partial women's team finished eighth. Senior Abbie Linna topped UCA's squad with a 22nd-place finish in a time of 19:37.24 over the 5K course. Addy Swaim was 26th ( 19:40.60), followed by Layne Sargeson in 39th (19:59.26), Madison Sellars in 61st (20:32.51), Skylar Lange in 62nd (20:34.12), Caroline Daniels in 105th (21:39.25) and Emily Phillips in 115th (22:13.88),.

    UCA competes next  weekend at Texas A&M in College Station, Texas.
