Men's Cross Country

UCA MEN FIFTH, WOMEN SEVENTH AT MEMPHIS TWILIGHT

    MEMPHIS, Tenn. _ The University of Central Arkansas men's cross country team finished fifth overall and the women's squad seventh on Saturday at the Memphis Twilight at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex. Twenty-five schools competed in both divisions.

    UCA's men were led by sophomore Markus Schweikert, who finished 12th overall in a school-record time of 20:04.82 for the four-mile course. Sophomore Brock Collins was 29th in 20:34.47, followed by Bill Kemboi in 37th (20:41.25), senior Grant Williams in 46th (20:53.79), junior Brant Cook in 52nd (21:05.26), freshman Lian Tonemah in 78th (21:33.24), freshman Jaron Hamilton in 80th (21:34.51),  senior Andrew Simpson in 107th (22:01.46), sophomore Ian Smith in 110th (22:04.66) and junior Bror Thiron in 133rd (22:25.79). 

     On the women's side, sophomore Alejandra Ruiz led the way in 24th place in a time of 18:18.17 over the 5K course. Senior Brigette Caruthers was 33rd in a time of 18:26.07, followed by sophomore Taylor Dunn i 47th (18:46.77), junior Abigail Topham in 58th (19:12.28), freshman Erin Woodward in 68th (19:20.88), sophomore Sara Shaw in 77th (19:39.66), freshman Kaylee Stewart in 84th (19:48.58),  Abbey Foreman in 92nd (19:56.01), Addy Swaim in 102nd (20:08.41), senior Abbie Linna in 104th (20:13.54), sophomore Skylar Lange in 126th (20:37.88), senior Hannah Holstein in 136th (20:53.34) and sophomore Caroline Daniels in 188th (22:21.68).

    UCA hosts the UCA Cross Country Challenge next Saturday morning at Beaverfork Lake Park.
