MEN’S SOCCER ADDS SIX

Conway – The Central Arkansas men's soccer team welcomed six more players to family on Wednesday, as head coach Ross Duncan announced some additions to his squad's 2018 recruiting class.

The Bears, who added four players at the semester break, further strengthened a roster that led Central Arkansas to its first Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Championship and an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Moiad Ankir, a forward from Richardson, Texas, will bolster the Central Arkansas attack. A member of the Solar Chelsea Developmental Academy, he has started all 11 of the program's matches so far this season and has found the net six times.

"With Mo, we've got an exciting attacker to add to an already dynamic attack here at UCA," said Duncan. "He's a very determined player that is always looking for the goal. I love his intensity and he's at a level that should translate right away to our lineup."

Trevor Jackson, a goal keeper from Carrollton, Texas comes to Conway from Creekview High School, where he earned the Regional Golden Glove Award, as well as District MVP and All-District First Team honors. He made 23 starts for FC Dallas Premier, collecting seven clean sheets.

"Trevor is a player we have been excited about adding to our group for a long time now," said Duncan. "He has a really bright future here. He's got a great skillset for the goalkeeper position and the athleticism to go with it."

Blake Arndt, from Wichita, Kansas, joins the Bears from Wichita Northwest High School, where he has earned All-City First Team and All-State honors twice. A four-year member of the Grizzlies' varsity squad, Arndt has tallied 51 goals and 16 assists. He helped lead his club team, the Wichita Cyclones to a 2015 USYS National Championship.

"Blake is a player that we have gotten to know really well through the recruiting process," said Duncan. "He gives us something completely different in the attack. If he can adjust to the speed of the game and use his physicality and finishing ability, I can see him having a great impact on our attack."

Ole Martin Kjorholt, from Stavanger, Norway, comes to Central Arkansas after a successful club career. A played for Madla IL until the age of 17, earning the "Best Young Player" award during his final year with the team, before moving to Viking FK, Norway's top club for the past two years. He helped lead Viking to the semifinals of the Norwegian U-19 Championship and a 3rd Division Championship.

"Ole comes in and will help strengthen our back line right away," said Duncan. "We are not only excited about the strength and athleticism he brings, but also his understanding of the defensive positions. He's got the ability to play pretty much anywhere in the back line and add value."

Johnny Ramirez, from Tucson, Arizona, joins the Purple and Gray after two years at Yavapai College, where he helped lead the Roughriders to a combined record of 41-7-3 while making 48 starts. During his two years with the Roughriders, he earned NJCAA All-Region First Team honors and NJCAA Scholar All-American honors.

"Johnny comes from a great program at Yavapai," said Duncan. "He was a leader in their group during his time there and will bring a really strong presence to our midfield. He's got great feet, a commitment to defending in the midfield, and will be able to compete right away in what is already a strong midfield core."

Rounding out the class is Justin Robertson, who makes the journey to Conway from Brooklin, Ontario. As a member of the Masters Futbol Academy U17 team, he scored eight goals during the 2017 season and was voted as the "Most Outstanding Youth Player" for the League1 Ontario Pro-Am Soccer League, which is focused on the development of Canada's future stars.

"We have been working to identify someone with Justin's ability for quite some time now," said Duncan. He is a fast, shifty winger that provides an attacking spark to any team he is in. He plays at a great level in Toronto already, so his ability to transition to Division I will be seamless and his commitment to press and defend from the attacking positions will be perfect for the way we play here."
