CONWAY, Ark _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears rode the pitching of right-hander Bobby Pritchett to a 6-2 victory over the Northwestern State Demons on Friday night at UCA Field.

The sophomore from Garland, Texas, struck out a career-high 11 batters and allowed six hits in improving to 5-5 overall. He allowed only two extra-base hits on the night, a double and a triple, both by left fielder Justin O'Neal. Other than that, he was rarely in trouble. The Demons (28-25, 17-11) scored single runs in the seventh and ninth innings and Pritchett gave way to Matt Humphrey in the ninth.

Humphrey got consecutive outs on fly balls before a wild pitch allowed a run to score. He then got Dylan Libadisos to ground out to short to end it.

The Bears (26-27-1, 12-16-1) got all the runs they would need with one swing in the fourth inning when first baseman Richey Irvin connected on a three-run home run to left center, scoring Chris Houk and Eric Tennyson.

UCA added two more in the fifth when Kevin Rawls led off with a single up the middle, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt and to third on Chris Davis' base hit. Tennyson then singled to right to score Rawls and Davis also came in when Northwestern right fielder Jordan Nipp committed an error on the play.

The Bears got one more run in the eighth on Payton Seelinger's ninth home run of the season, a solo shot to left field.

Pritchett's 11-strikeout performance was the best by a UCA pitcher this season. Junior second baseman Josh Huffman saw his team-best 18-game hitting streak come to an end as he went 0 for 2.

Both teams finished with six hits and Northwestern State had three errors. Heath Hennigan (3-4) got the loss for the Demons, allowing 5 runs, only two earned.

The final game of the season will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, with "Senior Day" activities beginning at 12:40.
