Athletic Department Mission Statement

The University of Central Arkansas will provide a NCAA Division I intercollegiate athletics program for men and women committed to support the educational mission of the university. The department will achieve excellence within intercollegiate competition at the highest level while aggressively maintaining a commitment to fairness and integrity.

The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will accomplish this mission through its commitment to the following endeavors:

• An unwavering commitment to honesty and integrity in administering the program on the part of athletic administrators, staff and coaches.

• Provide an equitable, balanced and broad-based athletics program for all student-athlete participants and the University of Central Arkansas community.

• Recruit a diverse group of student-athletes who represent the institution, the department and themselves in an outstanding manner as they pursue a high level of academic and athletic achievement.

• Identify, pursue and hire a diverse and qualified staff of coaches and administrators to ensure achievement, individual physical and emotional health as well as lifelong welfare of student-athletes.

• Operate a fiscally sound, equitable and responsible program within a reasonable budget.

• Comply with the rules and regulations of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the Southland Conference, and the University of Central Arkansas.

• Pursue the development, construction, and maintenance of facilities that are functional, aesthetically consistent with other university facilities, safe and comfortable for student-athlete participants, staff, spectators and community users.

• Create revenue streams, through the expansion of philanthropic giving, broadcast properties, corporate sponsorships, merchandising and a competitively priced ticketing structure.

• Provide entertainment options to the geographic region and the university community.

• Utilize modes of electronic media and technology to enhance the position of the university, and the department, to include more local, regional, national and global exposure.

• Support the educational component of the university by providing practicums, internships and graduate assistants.

• Extend optimum efforts by fostering and rewarding vision, creativity and innovation on the part of administrators, staff and coaches.

• Understand the value of teamwork and acknowledge our respect and commitment to each other.  We will understand the importance of timely, complete and accurate communication.


Athletic Department Vision Statement

The strategic vision of the University of Central Arkansas Athletics Department is to become the preeminent program in the Southland Conference and to support and enhance the university's educational mission and values while carefully operating within the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s principles and regulations.

As an integral part of the university, the department is committed to maintaining the institution’s core values while remaining focused on academic and athletic excellence for student athletes. Through strategic planning, the department will identify actions which will heighten the physical, moral, competitive and social environment to enhance the student-athlete experience and provide support to successful performance in the classroom and on the playing field.  We are committed to a core value system that provides a high quality student-athlete experience; maintains a commitment to competitive success in all sports; creates an environment which promotes equity, diversity, compliance and good sporting conduct and citizenship, while also providing outstanding leadership and management. The efforts of all staff and student-athletes are important and create a climate of excellence through teamwork. The athletic department is aware of its responsibility as a highly visual department of an institution that is the center of learning in Arkansas. We will never forget that our primary responsibility is to enhance the academic and athletic development of the student-athlete. We will seek to continue to develop support in the State of Arkansas through successful outreach programs, including the Purple Circle.
