CONWAY, Ark. _ The University of Central Arkansas Bears got strong pitching from a senior and a freshman Friday to down the Eastern Kentucky Colonels 4-3 in ASUN action at Bear Stadium.
Senior starter
Cade Fenton went 6.0 innings, striking out four and allowing just one earned run in his final start at Bear Stadium. Freshman righthander
Charlie Christensen did the rest, going the final 3.0 innings, allowing just two hits and striking out three.
The Bears' offense did just enough for the win, with senior catcher
Noah Argenta hitting his third home run of the season and senior right fielder
Kolby Johnson went 2 for 4 with two runs batted in, including the game winner in the fifth inning that broke a 3-3 tie.
UCA fell behind 2-0 in the first inning but the Bears quickly tied in the second on Argenta's two-run shot to left field. Both teams scored once in the third, with UCA's coming on an RBI single up the middle by Johnson.
In the fifth, center fielder
Drew Sturgeon led off with a walk and eventually scored on Johnson's fielder's choice.
The Bears and Colonels will finish the regular season at noon Saturday, with UCA's Senior Day ceremonies beginning at 11:40.
